AUTOTOMIZE by Twarda8 AUTOTOMIZE by Twarda8
It's for #Lilycove-Contests, the theme is sparkles
*I usually don't participate in any group activities, nor in many contest but I thought those contest thingies would be a good thing, in case of an art block or lack of ideas (and this reminds me of another group, where I supposed to draw hatchlings from a Spyro game. D'oh, how much late am I there? 2 years?)
*I chose Skarmory because I hoped to find it challenging to draw, and I thought it would be a good subject to experiment with lighting, if I wanted to do paintings of the pokemon. As I mentioned earlier, it took me almost 1 year to 'develop' the character in that way I would enjoy drawing it. Not that I was drawing it all year long, no, lol. I'm just a slow worker if there's no deadline (see above, the hatchlings).
*The sparkle theme inspired me actually. Instead of working on commissions I did this thing >.< It should be noted that the picture was inspired by [link] (the background especially) I think it's the 3rd picture in my gallery that was directly inspired by kawayoo. Cookie for those who can find the other two pics.
*This picture was suposed to be a simple drawing, but during the process I got carried away and the painting happened. It didn't even suppose to have a full background. But I felt urge to put more effort into it. Because it was intended to be an entry for the group, I'll submit it there.

Tablet. You should draw with tablet. Unless you want spent a lot of time on your digital art.

Ah, nevermind. I realized that my tablet wasn't enabled in GIMP, so simply switching it on did the trick. Thanks again.

That one has many many mistakes on the two point perspective. In any case, the way I I can tell you have a two point perspective on this is because of the FEEL of it. It feels as if I am looking at an object that is in front of me, and not on a screen. This feel comes from having both eyes focusing on one image, but both seeing a slightly different image. I'm sure you know how 3D works. Anyway, that you've achieved that means subconsciously, you used two point perspective, which is cool.

I don't do perspective in my drawings. At least not very often. Usually I draws what I feel like. If I created a picture that needs direct perspective work, I would do it.

Perhaps it's something you wanna look up. I've seen some shit that way crazy, even though it's simple, just because of perspective.

I was describing the one you lined to previously.

That one looks like she has a HUGE head, unless the distance is done wrong.

Well she had smaller head, but I enlarged it so it could be more visible. Plus the hair made it look even larger. I may get it smaller, if you say so. The drawing is still unfinished.

I don't work with such work, usually, and such perspective shots are quite difficult [link]

Just a little smaller, and remember it works like a cone, perspective. The further away the more squished gradually, so the ear would be smaller unless it's like HUGE. But I love your sketches, you can really feel the form :3

I wonder, I did it in one day, and only the undedited background from the picture had been uploaded few hours before the full picture was published. That means you were awaiting for about 3-5 hours...
...or, do you mean the overal "process" of creating the image, which includes the Skarmory concepts from July 2012?

Yes, I understand.

You must have seen my compilation sketch dump, that I posted on Pixiv, with one exlusive WIP of the Skarmory from the painting, first. Then, the day after this, you noticed the full picture on DeviantArt (which, has been online for several hours by the time).

DeviantArt is the gallery that gets its pictures first (In rare ocasions FA or Weasyl are updated before dA or dA is skipped completly). Pixiv aren't updated regulary and it gets its pictures delayed, usually from 1 day to 1 month. Considering the time zone of Japan, it may be seem even more delayed.

In fact, the very first picture directly related to this artwork, which was the undedited background I've mentioned before, appeared on my Tumblr. Few hours later the video was published on YouTube. And then DeviantArt, Tumblr, Facebook were updated. I plan update Pixiv this Sunday at ~12 AM, CEST, with the Skarmory picture.

You did not confuse me. Actually I had some fun with those comments.
