<personal opinion>Personally I think 6th generation basic stage starters are the worst set of starters in history of pokemon; they are even worse than IV generation starters. They are unoriginal, repetitive and so... artificial. Ugly "cute" roden-like grass Pikachu with body of Mijumaru, totally unoriginal fox thing with giant head and a damn frog that look like it escaped from 90's cartoon or something. The frog is the worst. It took me some time to accept the outrageous thing and now I think I may actually choose it (unless the final evo suck); Fennekin looks so ordinary which makes the frog a better choice</personal opinion, deal with it>
I think the G6 starters look *much* better than the previous generation--witness the flurry of fanart--although I agree they're not as appealing as past generations.
I'm in the same boat of 'hated Froakie, may end up choosing it in the end'. Fennekin looks like it's supposed to be cute. I want to think it's cute. But I don't. Its head is too big. Chespin is okay, though pointing out its resemblance to a mish-mash of Pikachu and Mijumaru is making me wonder whether should actually pick it or not. And all the art making Froakie look so good is helping me adjust to it.
I'll wait to see the evolutions before I actually choose. Personally I like these better than Gen IV, though. IV starters are still the worst to me.

The others are too boring
But yeah, that's a pretty neat quickie
